Service with a smile - This van says "Southern Electricity Service" on the side to emphasise that it was part of a complete system of electricity supply and service offered in the 1970s by the Southern Electricity Board. Small vans were needed to visit customers' houses to deliver and repair appliances, or to undertake small jobs on the network. Based on the classic Morris Minor design, it was a reliable everyday workhorse for staff and would have been a familiar sight on the roads of southern England.
